Pretty in Pink : Valentines Day Makeup Look #1

Valentines Day is just around the corner and I'm really excited. Some people might think it is silly, overrated and over commercialised but for me, it is the one day of the year when I can look forward to spending a rare quality time with my fiance without feeling guilty of having fun without our kids. I admit I am a sucker for flowers and chocolates but Valentine's Day is not just about spoiling someone with expensive things. It is about expressing love and affection, showing your appreciation and making big romantic gestures.. not only on Valentine's Day but everyday. But who are we kidding? In this day and age, meeting a genuinely old-fashioned romantic guy is very hard to come by...and for someone like my fiance (no offense honey!) who even though sometimes can still surprise me with his charming thoughtful ways, he is generally not the romantic type. And I accept that. So in special occasions such as Valentines Day when he makes an effort to make it a memorable one for me, I am just simply grateful to be treated extra special:)

So in the spirit of this occasion, over the coming weeks until Feb. 14, I've decided to share with you a few different looks that I think would be perfect for valentine's day, whether you are in a relationship wanting to impress your special someone or whether you are single just wanting to look and feel beautiful for yourself xD

Smooth buttery goodness: L'OREAL INFALLIBLE 24HR EYESHADOW

Been using these little babies for about a month now and I am absolutely in love. I've been so impressed of how comparable it is to my high end eyeshadows and I can honestly say that this is hands down the best drugstore eyeshadows I've ever owned.. and that's saying a lot for an eyeshadow junkie like me who has a ton of eyeshadows in my collection lol. I purchased four of the nine shades they had available in store (bought these from BIG W for $15 AU each on boxing day when they had the L'oreal 25% off sale) - Flashback Silver, Purple Obsession, Sahara Treasure and Permanent Kaki. Absolutely love these colours and the beauty about these shades is that they compliment each other that you can create different types of eye looks by mix and matching the different colour combinations :)

First of all the packaging is great - I love how it comes in a sturdy little jar and there is this little plastic thingy inside pressing the powder down and keeping it intact, soft and creamy to touch and also preventing it from drying out.. so do not discard the presser!

The shiny shimmery texture is exceptionally pigmented, some shades have some glitter but not over the top glittery at all (you can hardly even tell any signs of it once put on the lid) and the colour pay off is unbelievable. It is velvety smooth and glides heavenly onto your skin like butter. Even with it's high pigmentation, I haven't come across any fall outs. There's been a little debate going around what is the best way to apply it, brush or finger. I think both work really well but personally I prefer applying it with my fingers as I find it easier to pack on the lid, particularly when I'm in a rush, and the colour just pops out beautifully a little bit more on my lids than when it is applied with a brush.

colour pigmentation with one good swipe of the finger

Lasting power is incredible with primer with no creasing or fading at all and definitely lives up to its name being a 24hr eyeshadow (yes.. I tested it out one night wearing it to bed after a big messy night out, I know I know very naughty.. but when I woke up in the morning, woala.. amazingly enough it still looked just as good when I first put it on). I did however forgot to wear it one time without primer and I admit I saw a little sign of creasing after about 6hrs but I still think that's pretty good considering I have very oily lids and it tends to get craaazy oily during summer time especially when it's been so hot and humid here in Brisbane these past couple of weeks (generally without primer, eyeshadows only last about 2hrs on my lids before it starts creasing).. so packing on the primer is a MUST for me if I want my shadows to last longer :) All in all I highly recommend this product, it is definitely worth the bucks and I would definitely go and collect the rest of the shades next time I see it go on sale :) xx

FOTD: Demi Lovato "Skyscraper Music Video" Inspired Neutral Look

Today I went out for lunch and a movie with my sister and kids in the city. It was quite a warm weather so I decided not to wear a ton of makeup and just go for a neutral look which was inspired by Demi Lovato's makeup in her 'Skyscraper' music video (which I absolutely love). She's just amazing!! <3 I think she looked so beautiful in the video and the song is so inspiring and powerful. Definitely one of my fave songs that came out last year.
